Whether you voted for him or not, whether you agree with his policies or not, it was a historic night. Both the President-elect's speech and his very worthy opponent's concession speech were a thrill to listen to as a new American.
My only sadness is for my friends who have again been made to feel like second-class citizens without the rights that others in our country take for granted. I sympathize with Prop 8's supporters but wish that somehow they could be reassured that marriage for all who desire it does not threaten them, their families, or their faith.
But with a man at the helm who is thoughtful and measured, who will hopefully surround himself with thoughtful and measured advisors, I have great hope for the future of this country and for its people - all races, creeds, cultures and walks of life.
