I'd like to be able to say that the subject is some clever literary analogy, but no. It's literal. Since arriving in the Marche area of Italy yesterday with English hubby's family (they are hoping to buy a house here), lightning has literally danced all around us - on the road to the villa where we're staying it struck within a hundred yards of our tiny rental Ford Fiesta. This morning we were wakened at 6 a.m. with lightning literally sizzling the air within an arm's length of the house, one zap after the other. It was very exciting although Auntie C nervously claimed that she was ready to come hop into bed with us (while her big brother - that would be English hubby - went from window to window throwing open the shutters to see how close the strikes were). Sweetpea slept through it completely.
Internet time is limited, so here is a quick sneak peek of where we're at. And yes, I'm sorry to say, but it's completely idyllic, lightning strikes and all....

Sweetpea gets in the pool within half an hour of our arrival.
Grandad is ensconced in the pool house, while the rest of us are occupying the main house.(photos of the interior coming soon)
Around the side of the kitchen.
The wine is opened and the discussions of what to eat ensue.
