The zoetrope translates from "wheel of life" - it's an early device used to view animation. You place a series of images inside the wheel, spin it around, and watch the images move. Fun!
Here's some cheesy animation I did at the Charles M. Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa. It's been a while since I've animated (my former livelihood), hand-drawn in particular - but not bad for about two minutes worth of scrawling with a Sharpie. Hint: watch the little guy at the left side of the screen - he's the easiest to see.
We went up to the Museum and the Snoopy Ice Rink next door on the weekend. Sweetpea made the attempt but actually spent a lot of time on the ice like this:
and not much time actually skating.

The Museum and rink were both really sweet, especially if you're a Peanuts fan.
